Free and Open to the Public
The 6th Makyoh Conversazione marks the first with extensive
international participation, offering a unique opportunity to connect
with fellow magic mirror scholars and enthusiasts of a Makyoh family
spread over the world in face to face .
The event aims to foster a global co munity and provide a forum for
sharing recent research on makyō or magic mirrors. Topics will range
from scientific and cultural aspects to anecdotes and insights, all
accompanied by in-depth discussions.
Key highlights:
● Demonstration and Q&A of Makyō of Makyōs: the world’s largest and other unorthodox modern Makyōsvv
● Makyō (The Magic Mirror of Japan): Rare documentary film featuring the art of magic-mirror Master Hōryū Yamamoto,
Living National Treasure. The film shows the history and the entire processes of producing Makyō.
● Visits to historical makyō sites in Kyoto—you can witness the exceptional craftsmanship and technologies from 200 years
ago, which remain unmatched even today.

Call for Papers, Registration
We cordially invite submissions of papers on all aspects of the magic mirror, including theory, methodology, application in surface topography analysis, history, and any new findings.
Pre-registration is recommended.
Conversazione materials are only available to pre-registrants and the excursion is limited to 10 persons (foreigners priority on a first-registrant basis) due to the limited capacity of visiting sites.
